Some things I'll just never understand about conservatives.

For example, I can admit Bill Clinton isn't the world's best example when it comes to personal affairs, but I can separate that from the fact that he was one of the best Presidents we've had.

Conservatives, on the other hand, can't seem to bring themselves to admit Bush is anything but God's Chosen Perfect President and any suggestion otherwise is blasphemy.

How can any conservative who served his or her country be proud of a man who not only went AWOL but made cutting Veteran's benefits a priority?

Is it some type of defense mechanism that doesn't allow them to publically admit their man is a flop, or do they really truly believe Bush is doing a good job?

I love the current state of political discourse:

Liberal: You know, the war in Iraq isn't going too well.

Conservative: What? Why do you hate America so much?

Liberal: Well, I'm just saying....

Conservative: Why are you supporting terrorism?

Liberal: I don't support terrorism, its just that troops are getting killed...

Conservative: That's just the liberal media lying! Things are good in Iraq!

Liberal: Clearly, we're becoming less and less welcome there too.

Conservative: Would you rather we left a tyrant like Saddam in charge?

Liberal: No, but we clearly have no clear exit plan here...

Conservative: Traitor! Any disagreement with the President is Un-American!

*enter the leaked memo from Rumsfeld saying the war isn't going well*

Conservative: .....well, no one said they wouldn't get our hair mussed. (Actual Ann Coulter quote)

I'm still trying to sort out this thing with the woman in Florida who (thanks to Jeb Bush's tireless desire to be King) had her feeding tube put back.

All signs seem to point towards her being severely brain damaged and non responsive, but there's issues of money and family members having ulterior motives.

I don't know, but it just seems everyone's using this woman to push their own agenda instead of thinking about this woman's best interests.

Can someone on the conservative side of the fence stop blaming liberals for terrorism for a second and tell me why George W. Bush's lawyer is representing Saudi Arabia in the lawsuit filed against them by 9/11 families? Why is the guy who was Bush's point man in Florida during the mess in 2000 now siding against families of 9/11? If the reply is "its just business" would you feel the same way if it was the Rose Law Firm repping the Saudis? If not, why?

All I want is an answer.

It may seem odd for a liberal to like pro wrestling, but I am and I do. I've been a fan since 1986.

I mention it because former pro wrestler the Ultimate Warrior has post wrestling career as a speaker who goes to colleges to speak about the evils of liberalism.

Now, for those of you who aren't into wrestling (which is most of you, probably), this guy did so much illegal steroids he'd be out of breath just from running to the ring. He's the type of person a lot of non fans think of when someone mentions pro wrestling.

Oh yeah, he also legally changed his name to "Warrior", just so he could use the character created for him in the WWF in other promotions.

He does seem to have the Republican compassion for others down pat, as evidenced by this quote about former wrestler Rick Rude, who died a few years ago due to heart problems caused by drug abuse:

"As much as I loved Rick, I'm glad he's dead".

Which he explained by saying he didn't want people who did drugs on the same planet as his children.

Now keep in mind this is from the guy who was famous for being loaded to the gills on steroids and who knows what other types of drugs.

I guess what he really means is he didn't want people who did drugs on the same planet as his children, except for him, because he's a conservative hypocrite now.

Read a heartbreaking post over at DU about someone recieveing a phonecall from a relative stationed in Afghanistan.

He told about the conditions in Afghanistan, and how troops there were being abducted by resistance fighters. Of how the media has largely forgotten what's going on there and the troops know it.

He also mentions being in contact with troops in Iraq, and how the suicide rate is much higher than what's being reported and that there's food shortages. All while wondering "why aren't people doing something to get us out of here".

Rest assured, Ann Coulter will appear on a talk show to repeat her mantra of everything being okay and whenever bad things get reported, it's just that mean old liberal media being un-American again.

Just a quick note, if there's one thing that's going to get Bush re-elected its oversensitive Democrats.

Now granted, it's the most unscientific method one can imagine, but in my time browsing boards like DU, never have I seen people so hypersensitive about the dumbest things.

I'm not saying we should become insensitive mind you, but I would wager its a lot easier for the right wing to achieve their goals when a 30,000 member message board like DU has a fervent debate on wether or not the term "bitch slap" is allowable, as went on a week or so ago. Like George Carlin said, words are just words. It's the context that determines if the person speaking is an asshole or not.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.
